East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, based in Berkeley, California, is a group of full-time, intern and voluntary lawyers providing legal assistance to asylum seekers, particularly indigenous Guatemalans, LGBTs, victims of domestic or state violence, and Tibetan monks. As of 2013, East Bay Sanctuary have won 96% of their cases, whilst continuing to broaden their activities.

Passaport Project's collaboration with East Bay Sanctuary began in July 2012, with the presentation of the 'Passport' poem at the San Francisco International Poetry Festival, together with Matt Gonzalez.
